Howard
Rooke
Howard came from a
musical background, with both parents in music education, his father a
well-known choral conductor in the Manchester area. He attended the Royal Academy of Music and Manchester University, going into teaching first in Dorset, then moving to Norfolk in 1970. Howard has
been conductor of several groups in Norfolk including Sheringham and Cromer
Choral Society, West Norfolk Jubilee Youth Orchestra and the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra. He
spent seven years in Devon from 2000 where he also did some conducting, before returning
to Norfolk in 2007. Howard joined the Norwich Singers as musical
director in September 2009.
